In the morning, your 11 days China tour will start with visit to Tiananmen Square and the Forbidden City. As the largest city square in the world, Tiananmen Square has seen the country's development in the past 500 years and become an important venue for most of the national ceremonies. Walking through the square, you will come to the largest and best-preserved imperial palace complex - the Forbidden City. With 590 years of history, the Forbidden City will bring you back to the prosperous Ming and Qing dynasties by showing thousands of imperial architecture and precious culture relics.

To avoid the cheap tourist restaurant as the most are doing now, we will serve you an a la carte lunch (valued at CNY150.00 per person and included in our price) at a famous local Cantonese restaurant to taste the authentic Chinese food. Usually our a la carte meal price is three to four times higher than that of the eateries arranged by other agencies and our food quality is surely incomparable. After lunch, visit the Temple of Heaven, which is the imperial altar for the emperors of the Ming and Qing dynasties to worship the god of heaven.

We would recommend TravelChina to others. Having you take care of all the planning details allowed us to focus on just having fun and enjoy China's beauty.
All of our worries disappeared the moment Kitty, our Beijing guide, greeted us at the airport. For the following three days, she and our driver showed us the many fascinating sites around Beijing including the Forbidden City, the Great Wall, the Temple of Heaven, and the Summer Palace.
We then flew to Xian, and at the last day in Xian, we choose to travel to Huashan. The rock formations and canyons were incredible. The views were somewhat similar to Yosemite National Park in the United States. It's hard to describe in words the true beauty of the Mountain. The trails and bridges were also amazing. We must have climbed 10,000 stairs. All of the trails were made of stone. The individuals who built the trails were artist making them look like logs to match the natural environment. Unfortunately, there was a slight mix up at Guilin airport, when our guide, Jenny, accidentally picked up another couple instead of us. However another guide helped us out and we got to our hotel that evening safely. The following morning everything was cleared up and we were on our way. Jenny was very knowledgeable and her English was excellent. We enjoyed her company very much. The hotel was less desirable than the other hotels that we stayed at but, the incredible scenery definitely made up for it. Thank you so much for all of your help. We had an unforgettable holiday.

I would highly recommend this tour company in China. From the start, Vera Yu answered every question and responded to questions every time in a prompt manner. The hotel she selected for us were outstanding, with high marks for the Wyndham Grand Xi'an South-an incredible property that if we had known, we would have stayed there an extra couple days just to explore. A great experience overall!

First of all I have to thank you for allowing us to choose this extensive and interesting tour. I downloaded every scrap of information relevant to our itinerary that eventually filled a binder, our personalized guide book. We were not disappointed. China is so big and we managed to see such a variety. We feel lucky to have had the chance to go to Guilin, it was one of the highlights of our trip. And thank you for all your helpful e-mail messages.

Overall I was very happy with the trip! I wrote this feedback just to tell you that how excellent your work is. I liked all of the places we went to and it is hard to pick a favorite. Thank you again and we will definitely use your service again for our future trip.
Posted on December 24, 2019 helped us to organize a fantastic China trip to Beijing, Xian, Guilin, Yangshuo & Shanghai. In each city the guides did an exceptional work. It is almost difficult to single one guide out as particularly outstanding. In Xian, Jacky shone as he helped us manage our overweight luggage: as there was only one check-in line, we waited 45 minutes, and Jacky thought it was ridiculous and let the gate agent know that we were all very upset; the gate agent felt guilty and let us go through without paying extra for the overweight luggage (we had already bought too many souvenirs I think!). The three of us laughed a lot at the incident and at Jacky's wonderful way of asserting himself for our benefit. Unfortunately, due to my wife's brief illness, Oscar in Guilin especially stands out: this does not mean that the other guides would not have been just as helpful, but circumstances gave Oscar a chance to rise to the occasion. When we asked the hotel to call a doctor, Oscar joined us to help translate and to accompany us to the hospital nearby: the doctor herself was superb and thorough; at one point, she said that it would take a couple of hours to get the results of the blood test, so she sent us back to the hotel to rest and promised to call Oscar on his cell phone as soon as she had the results. Oscar stayed in the hotel lobby waiting, we went upstairs; as after two hours Oscar had not heard anything, he went back on his own, to the hospital and got what we needed. What a professional way to approach his role as guide... he was more a guardian angel than a guide, and it was very reassuring to be able to count on him. By the way, my wife discomfort abated very quickly thanks to the prescription the doctor provided, and the rest of our trip went on perfectly. Finally, again, Oscar showed his ability to negociate and be helpful to increase our enjoyment: I had seen and liked the China knot that I had see in several places during the holidays and thought that I would like to buy one; on the morning cruise on the Li River, the ship had a large red knot hanging in the ship pilot's area. Oscar asked if I would like it, I said yes, and he offered to ask the pilot for it; his negotiations were very successful, and the knot now hangs at the entrance of my house in the United States! A big thanks to all of the guides we had! ... More

Meals: The breakfasts were all fine as there was plenty to choose from. To be honest, we did not enjoy the lunches except for one that we were able to customize due to our guide. I think it is because we are Westerners and not used to Chinese food and the preparation fried and with oil. They served HUGE amounts of food and we ended up wasting much of it. I think it would be better to allow the customer to order the same of dishes from the menu, but if they could STEAM instead of fry or use so much oil, that would be better. Also, we’re not used to the parts of the animals Chinese people eat, that we don't eat. But the service was always excellent, restaurants clean, but we just didn’t eat much of the food except tofu, vegetables, rice and eggs. They should also ask if we like it spicy or mild. This is cultural, not a fault. But for Westerners, it would be good to send to restaurants that also serve Western food, fresh salads, steamed things and bread/butter (like the breakfasts.)

Guides: Nick: Nice and funny. Very flexible in changes to itinerary. Knowledgeable. Dependable. Mostly confined to answering questions. Excellent English. (Driver’s car was fine, can’t remember it too well.) Tony: Really great and engaging us from the start. Constantly talked to us, informed us, not rushed us, very knowledgeable, we LOVED him. Excellent English. (Our favorite-tell him.) Ellen: Really great, kind, flexible, caring, excellent English. Pre-arranged a vegetarian lunch that we asked for with steamed vegetables. Informed us that sometimes Chinese people don’t know how to prepare foods Western style; so no surprises. Very organized and knowledgeable. (Driver’s car was EXCELLENT, tons of leg room, super clean, smelled good.) Lily: was of course, most excellent.

Perfect hotel with gym/pool/excellent food and rooms well-appointed.

A belated thank you to Linda for her excellent arrangements on our recent China trip. Everything worked efficiently and the guides and drivers were always waiting for us at the airports. We were particularly impressed the way Linda handled the last minute changes when our outgoing flight was cancelled. We were very happy to be a group of 2 and were able to do everything at our own speed. With the benefit of hindsight we would have done a few things differently. We should have used the hotel you originally suggested in Shanghai. Although the Peace Hotel we booked on our own has an excellent location it is old and worn out and the staff do not seem happy in their work. We enjoyed Guilin very much and our free time in Yangshou. The guide there Jesse was excellent - his English was probably the best of all the guides we used - although all of them had a good command of the language, and he was particularly helpful. This was absolutely stunning - Guilin was one of the highlights of the holiday. The girl guides we had were all charming and friendly and we talked to them about all sorts of things - life in China and in England. We were pleased to meet Linda in Xian and enjoyed the dumpling banquet. We would certainly recommend TravelChinaGuide without reserve. ... More

We had a good tour with tcg. Their guides were exceptional. We highly commend Stephanie (Guilin). Even though Guilin doesn't have the vast amount of history to cover, her lively personality was a huge plus--perfectly matching the scenic area. When we had extra time on the last day because of a late flight, she took extra time to get to know us and vice-versa; so that was an extra memorable bonus. The food selections were adequate overall, and the locations were sanitary. Neither of us suffered from sickness, so that was a real plus. (We appreciated the bottled water supplies) Way too much food was given, however. We were just two people, but for a number of meals there was enough easily feed 4 or 5 people, so too much went to waste. We also found the food in Beijing especially to be bland (even when requesting spicier food), but that may just be the nature of the cuisine there. A notable exception in Beijing was the breakfast buffet at the hotel--the best we had for the entire trip. The restaurant that we went to on our own in Xian was pretty good--it was one recommended by our guide Lily. A few more experiences like that would have been cool. But the best restaurant experience was in Guilin. It was so good that we were glad to be able to return there for a second time. Would highly recommend that one to anyone visiting this city!
All drivers were courteous, quiet, and performed their duties well. The cars were all clean. They did fantastic job in arrange this tour. Thanks.

Many thanks for all of your help in planning this China tour. The hotels were excellent. The only one we had a few concerns about was in Guilin as we had read quite a number of negative reviews before leaving home, but in reality the rooms were comfortable and the staff very accommodating. Your choices of restaurants throughout China proved well thought out; the food was incredibly good! As for the cities/tours/tour guides: we were met at the airport in every place without a problem, and all transportation met our needs well. The sites we visited were scheduled with thought and sufficient time. Although there was a switch in the places we would visit in Beijing made without our knowledge, Tina noted our disappointment and made sure that we still were able to get to the Summer Palace, even though it was quite a fast visit; this is why we like private tours. The Peking show was amazing, and we loved sitting right up in front! Enjoying Xian was a bit frustrating as neither the guide nor driver wanted to take us to the Muslim quarter to spend any free time (this was the only place where your staff was less than accommodating). We did get to the Terra Cotta Warriors early enough to beat the crowds, which always makes for a better visit. The Tang dynasty show was a bit of a disappointment in that we sat in the very back and could not see through the people sitting at the table in front of us. The manager noticed this, and without our asking, found us another table in the back that had a better view. We will need to schedule more time in Guilin the next time we visit China, as we found this city wonderful. The highlight was the trip down the Li River, with the beautiful, misty mountains along the banks. And Yangshuo was simply a delight! Once the majority of tourists went back to Guilin by bus in the afternoon, we enjoyed wandering around that lively town and eating dinner in one of the many sidewalk cafes. We walked to the Banyan Tree (2 hours) and loved seeing the farmers in the myriad paddies along the way. A testament to the people living there: trekking back to Yangshuo a family picked us up and drove us to the center of town, smiling and nodding at us throughout the trip. Our final few days in Shanghai (Jimmy was our favorite of all the tour guides) ended a spectacular two week tour!
We would certainly recommend TravelChinaGuide to anyone who wants to make the most out of a trip to China.
